Corkscrew Vine (Vigna caracalla).
The Corkscrew flower has a very sweet perfume. It is commonly mistaken for the Snail Flower.
The Corkscrew Vine flower does look like a snails shell. The flower is in the tones of mauve to purple with a very soft lavender tone to almost soft white.
When the flower ages it becomes yellow to almost a soft brown tone and soft white. The mauve and purple tones fade. The Corkscrew Vine does need to be controlled being a climber.
Flowering late in March this Corkscrew flower usually flowers in December and continues through Summer.
Photo taken in Melbourne, Australia.
